A glass marquee on the marshlands in the Scottish Highlands. It seemed an impossible feat but they made it happen. The mountain earth was evened out, a road and a bridge built. This was no ordinary wedding.
Saskia & Giles planned a beautiful, wild wedding on the groom’s family estate in the highlands just outside Inverness. Family and friends (along with the couple themselves) flew from all corners of the globe to get there, creating a wonderful community of likeminded folk coming together to celebrate this inspiring couple’s love. Their spiritual ceremony, conducted by the barefoot druid JJ, was full of heart-warming traditions as songs were sung and blessings were made. Saskia walked across the wooden footbridge and onto the aisle towards Giles as her sister sang Will Ye Go Lassie Go, friends & family read poems and Saskia’s father played guitar. The couple finished by walking through the mystical portal created using fallen twigs from the estate, symbolising them entering this new era of their lives together.
Celebrations were held lochside by the marquee, which was transformed into a lush forest with ferns and flowers. They feasted on delicious wild foods as the sun set in the highlands, and a beautiful glowing full moon appeared above them. Tables were named after magical & mythical places, it was all nothing short of a fairytale. They ended the night with lots of dancing to soulful music well into the wee hours, and drinks by the roaring bonfire.
My husband and I stayed on the estate over the weekend, breakfasting and dining with the whole clan. We loved getting to know everyone and listening to their stories from all parts of the world. It really was one of the most incredible experiences of my career, I’ve never felt more at home at a wedding. I can’t thank everyone enough for their hospitality and for making us feel so welcome. We’ll cherish this day forever. <3
