When I first met Vanessa and Chris in Edinburgh at their favourite rock bar to hear their plans I just knew we were going to create something wonderful together. They had a truly unique vision for how their wedding day should unfold. With an engagement at the Day of the Dead festival in Mexico and Vanessa’s obsession with Halloween it seemed only fitting they should marry on this day.
They married at the famous 15th century Rosslyn Chapel (which you may recognise from The Da Vinci Code film) and a reception at the stunning Oxenfoord Castle. The later was transformed into a stylish gothic Halloween spectacle for the evening. Vanessa has incredible taste so I knew it would be gorgeously styled but I was still blown away by all the quirky little oddities and trinkets. Everywhere you looked there was something to admire. Many of their loving family and friends helped create their vision by carving pumpkins etc . Even the couple’s incredible black skull wedding cake was made by a talented friend. The Edinburgh Ghost bus transported their guests between venues which was an absolute treat.
Vanessa is a fellow wedding photographer and artist and it was such an honour to capture her & Chris’ day. I really enjoyed collaborating with them and sharing ideas to create their wedding images. I have so much love for them as a couple and wish them nothing but the best for the future. <3
With thanks to the very talented Eric-Rene Penoy for joining me in telling their story. His beautiful images are also included in this post. I couldn’t have done it without you buddy.
A word of warning – this is an image heavy post. But it is so worth the scrolling…
