Glencoe is, to me, a place of mystery and magic. Having spent most of my life in the Outer Hebrides I’ve travelled through it’s mountains countless times over the years. Despite this familiarity the mountains have remained mostly unexplored by me, something I’ve always wanted to change but never made the time. The same could be said about this photo shoot in general. I’ve forever dreamed of organising an elopement styled shoot to inspire couples who want to marry wild, and once I decided to finally do it I knew it could only be in one place.
These mountains, set in the stunning Scottish highlands, are well known throughout the world and as more couples these days are choosing to elope to beautiful destinations I wanted to showcase the breathtaking beauty of the area. We used a variety of locations throughout the mountain range, finishing up by Glen Etive which is famous for featuring in James Bond’s Skyfall.
It was important to me that I photograph a real couple. This amazing couple, Lena and Jakub, have been together for many wonderful years, all the love you see here in real. Lena herself is a talented artist and fellow wedding photographer and I feel so lucky she joined me on this adventure. Once I explained my plans I was equally delighted when my favourite florist and good friend Natasha of Tupelo Tree excitedly agreed to come on board. In my opinion Natasha is the best in her field, her passion for floristry is outstanding and it’s been incredible watching her talents grow over the years. I knew working with her that we were in for something special.
I didn’t want to overly style the shoot and instead keep things simple – allowing the beauty of the location and the real love between these two shine through. Natasha’s creations more than lived up to the expectations and her floral pieces were out of this world. She lovingly crafted an arrangement of stunning floral headpieces, button holes, and bouquets, keeping things rustic and wild to suit the surroundings. Using a mixture of succulents, twigs and ferns each piece was so unique.
Lena and Jakub celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary today and I couldn’t think of a better time to share these images. <3 It was a total dream team and I just love what we created. I hope you will too. Let the love and wildness wash over you..
