I feel so grateful that Mopsa found me that day on Instagram, thanks to the wonderful Natural Wedding Co. Having the opportunity to capture her and Jaspar’s beautiful Formentera wedding was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my career. Formentera, one of the Balearic islands, holds a special place for Mopsa’s family and once I stepped foot on it’s sandy shores I instantly understood why. I just couldn’t believe I didn’t know about this beautiful island before.
Mopsa spent a lot of time on the island throughout her childhood, and continued going once she started her own family. With years of happy memories already created, it really was the perfect place for her and longtime partner Jaspar to celebrate their love with family and friends.
I met the couple the morning of the wedding at their stunning villa, which has hosted rockstars and film crews over the years. I joined the whole family as they dined outside for their pre-wedding lunch, and after a few hours spent hanging by the villa as everyone got ready, I joined their friends to walk along the beach to the venue under the intense summer heat.
The whole wedding was very much a family affair. The couple’s 3 children were involved in all the important moments throughout the day, this was just as much a big day for them as their parents. From walking down the aisle, to taking part in the traditional sand ceremony, they were together as a family.
Mopsa and Jaspar are a super easygoing couple, and their chilled beachside wedding fully reflected this. It was a day for relaxing under the sun, chatting over paella and glass of wine, dancing like you mean it and ending with a dip in the pool at sundown.
It was very much an occasion to capture more of the natural unfolding of the day, over lots of formal portraits. And with a late ceremony and dwindling sunlight hours, we saved my usual portrait session to be taken the day after the wedding (something I suggest to all my couple’s planning destination weddings) in the trees by the villa. Mopsa and Jaspar were amazing to work with and I feel blessed to have been a part of their wedding.
Formentera will forever have my heart, and I simply can’t wait to return again one day. <3
