Last year I took part in UK lifestyle magazine Oh Comely‘s November Care Package Project. The project paired strangers from across the globe & asked them to prepare a package of surprises for one another. The idea was that nobody receives anything nice in the mail any more & they wanted to do something about this woeful lack of good post.
I had a lot of fun preparing my parcel for my swap mate, Rachel, who stayed in the US’s Pacific North-West. This is the parcel I sent her (wedding clients may recognise the packaging…)
The contents included;
- A vintage postcard
- Polaroid of the tree in my garden
- A yummy spiced bath bomb from Lush
- A ‘Christmas Eve’ scented Yankee candle
- Cocoa Butter lip balm
- Loose ‘Creme Caramel’ roobios tea
- My favourite business card
- A mix CD of awesome tunes…
My parcel even ended up in the Mar/Apr edition of the magazine;
I was pleased to hear the parcel made it safely across the pond. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a mix up on Rachel’s end with receiving my address so I wasn’t sure I would be getting one in return. It wasn’t until a few weeks ago though that I was pleasantly surprised when her lovely parcel arrived at my door.
The contents were awesome, totally to my taste..
It included;
- Some slides of San Francisco (love love!)
- Chilli Dark chocolate (yum)
- Art Nouveau notebook
- Postcard of onion bulbs
- ‘Bread & chocolate’ dark chocolate
- Caramels
- Pure maple syrup (yass!)
I’m really happy to have taken part in this lovely project. It was a great excuse to send more ‘good mail’ out into the world, to inspire & brighten up the dreary days.. I will certainly be sending out more treats the good old fashioned way from now on. When was the last time you sent someone a care package in the post?
