Our 2018 of Wild Love & Adventure

08/03/2019

I worked with 28 couples in 2018, the majority of who flew in from all corners of the globe to marry in wild & beautiful places across the country.

This was the first year my husband Chris came on board and joined me on the road for many of weddings. He was a massive help – from having to run miles mid hike through the Cuillin hills to fetch a forgotten marriage certificate (true story) to climbing up waterfalls to take vast scenic shots while I’m down in the trenches. 6 of his lovely photos are included below, can you guess which ones?

We lived in our micro-camper much of the year, parking up in nature-filled locations in remote places to sleep & dine under the stars. Together we drove more than 20,000 miles, as north as the Outer Hebrides and south as Cornwall, as well as flying away for shoots in Iceland & Amsterdam. I also worked more on my home islands than ever before, capturing some sweet intimate weddings on my doorstop and portraits of fellow wild women (something I’m really excited to be doing more of from now on). This was our longest winter on the islands, with no travels away, and it further fuelled our love for this place.

My Films really took off in 2018, and I enjoyed exploring more of this new medium. (You can see some of my recent Films here: https://www.maureendupreez.com/films/) I’ll be experimenting more with video this year, offering extended footage alongside the finalised art Film as well as audio. Chris and I have become a real team and discovered how best to combine our strengths together. Going forward, he will be joining me at elopements across the Scottish highlands & isles, and weddings where couples book a film. We particularly really love working together at elopements and offering a specialised service – photos & video, being witnesses, & hunting down amazing locations – and so are making them our main joint venture for the foreseeable future. *Marry wild.*

Thanks to all my wonderful couples & clients who helped make 2018 possible. Chris and I made some real friends documenting love this year, ones we hope to keep for life. Big shout out also to my second shooters who stepped in to provide their artistry for wedding adventures, Jess & Inga. <3

I’m slowing things a bit more this year so I have more time to work on some personal projects, and so am capping my weddings at 20. I still have 2 more spots left, so if you’ve been following my work for a while and been meaning to get in touch – drop me a message. I’d love to chat more with you. :)

Here are some of my favourite moments from the year that was 2018:
